Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. Local grocery mogul, Jeff Brown, is expected to announce his bid for mayor Wednesday in West Philly, according to sources close to Brown and his campaign. Brown has been hinting at a mayoral run since early 2021 after being outspoken on Mayor Kenney's soda tax. Brown is the fifth Democrat and sole non-politician to throw their name in the ring joining former City Council members Maria Quiñones-Sánchez, Derek Green, Cherelle Parker, Allan Domb and former city controller Rebecca Rhynhart.   2. It's been a record-breaking year for carjackings in Philadelphia this year and gas stations are one of the most frequently targeted locations. According to Philadelphia police, there have been 69 armed robberies at the pumps this year, compared to 65 in all of last year. (WPVI-TV)
  3. A Philadelphia junior high school was placed on lockdown Monday after police allegedly found a gun inside a student's locker. Police responded to Hardy Williams Charter School in the city's Kingsessing neighborhood around 9 a.m. and searched the locker for suspicion of narcotics, authorities said. Officers instead found a gun inside the locker, according to police, and immediately placed the school on lockdown just after 10 a.m. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)

National Dog Show Returns to Montgomery County -The Kennel Club of Philadelphia's annual National Dog Show returns to the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania this weekend. I would enter our dogs but most flatulent and best cheese eater are not Kennel Club categories. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
