Arson, Vandalism At Philadelphia Synagogue Under Investigation
Philadelphia Police said someone set fire to a dumpster at Mikveh Israel Congregation Synagogue about four hours before it was vandalized.
PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia are asking for help finding the people responsible for arson and vandalism at a Philadelphia synagogue.
First, police said someone lit a dumpster on fire next to Mikveh Israel Congregation Synagogue at 44 North 4th St. at about 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities described the suspect as a white man with a thin build and facial hair who was wearing a blue hat, gray sweatshirt, blue jeans, gray sneakers, and a backpack.

Then, at about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, two people were seen on camera trying to break into the place of worship.
The two damaged a fence and door, but were unable to get inside, police said.

Police described one of those suspects as a white man with glasses around his neck who was wearing a dark hat, white t-shirt, tan pants, dark shoes, and a backpack. The other suspect was described as a white man who wearing all dark clothing and riding a small scooter.

Action News and NBC10 also reported a statue at the synagogue was vandalized with profanity late Tuesday night.
