Birthday Party Ends With Fatal Stabbing: Philadelphia Police

A 56-year-old man was fatally stabbed Saturday night during an altercation at a family birthday party, Philadelphia Police said.

PHILADELPHIA — A 56-year-old man died after being stabbed at a family gathering Saturday night in Philadelphia, police said.

The incident occurred at about 10:40 p.m. Saturday on the 500 block of North Vodges Street.

Police were called to the area for a report of a person with a weapon and found the victim suffering from stab wounds throughout his body.

He was taken to Penn-Presbyterian Medical Center, where he died from his injuries at 11:51 p.m.

Police said the victim was at a family birthday party when he got into a verbal altercation with the stabber.

That altercation turned violent, leading to the fatal stabbing, police said.

Police took the accused attacker into custody.
