Sailboat Stolen By Armed Man On Delaware River In Philly: Reports

A sailboat was stolen from a dock near Penn's Landing Wednesday evening, but the boat thief was quickly found and taken into custody.

PHILADELPHIA — A man is in custody after authorities in Philadelphia said he stole a sailboat docked on the Delaware River Wednesday.

According to Fox 29, the incident began at about 6:30 p.m. at Pier 5 marina near Penn's Landing.

A man jumped onboard a 28-foot sailboat and drove off, going about two miles south on the river, NBC10 reports.

The man has been identified as Roger Pojar, 31 of Philadelphia.

He is charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and firearm violations, court records show.

The Philadelphia Police Marine Unit and the Coast Guard found the boat in about half an hour, pulled it over, and took the man into custody, according to Action News.

Authorities said the man was also in possession of a stolen handgun, but that he did not use it in the boat theft.

Pojar is being held on 10 percent of $150,000 bail, according to court records.

He is scheduled for an Aug. 31 preliminary hearings, court documents show.
