Burglary-Turned-Barricade Situation Ends With 1 In Custody: Police

Philadelphia Police said a man barricaded himself in a home Sunday morning, but was eventually taken into custody without incident.

PHILADELPHIA — A man was taken into custody after Philadelphia Police said he broke into a business then holed up in a nearby home Sunday.

Police were called to the Metro PCS store at 6901 Stenton Ave. at about 6:35 a.m. Sunday for a report of burglary in progress.

There, they found a man running from the area and said he barricaded himself in a home on the 6700 block of Cornelius Street, where he is suspected to live.

Police declared the barricade situation at 6:58 a.m. and staged at Cornelius Street and Beverly Road.

The man was eventually taken into custody without incident.
