Celebrate Black history on Juneteenth (June 19th), the anniversary of the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the United States learned of their emancipation. Second Baptist Church is hosting griot storytelling, music, dancing, Spades (cards) and Double Dutch contests, and food trucks for a fun community event. The Historical Society of Frankford and the Philadelphia Historical Commission's Treasure Philly! project will be on site to copy historical documents for addition to the church's archives, and for use in the church's nomination to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places.
