Celebrate Arbor Day With Tree Plantings, History In Newtown Square

Eight new native trees will be planted at the historic 1742 Square Tavern in Newtown Square as part of the Arbor Day 2026 celebration.

NEWTOWN SQUARE, PA — Newtown Square will celebrate Arbor Day 2026 April 24 and April 25, at the 1742 Square Tavern.

The event is part of the Township’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Activities are planned to enhance the historical landscape of the tavern.

The Parks and Recreation Board — in collaboration with the Newtown Square Historical Society and the township arborist — has selected eight new native trees for planting. These trees are intended to complement the historical setting and contribute to the “original center of town” for many decades.
