Child, Teen Sought In Philly Carjackings: Police

A child, about 10 to 12 years old, and a teenager are sought in connection with four carjacking incidents in Philadelphia, police said.

PHILADELPHIA — A child 10 to 12 years old and a teenager are sought in connection with four carjacking incidents in Philadelphia.

According to police, the four incidents occurred between Aug. 16 and Aug. 22.

At 9:50 p.m. on Aug. 16, a man was sitting outside his vehicle on the 1000 block of Girard Avenue when the offenders, armed with a handgun, approached him and took his vehicle.

Two days later, on Aug. 18 at 2 a.m., another carjacking took place on the 1300 block of West Cumberland Street.

The victim was sitting in his parked vehicle when the offenders, armed with a handgun, came up to him on foot and took his vehicle.

They were first seen on camera at Broad and Cecil B. Moore, and walked north to Cumberland Street.

At 4:45 a.m. on Aug. 21, a man was sitting in his parked vehicle on the 1300 block of West Cumberland Street, when the offenders approached his car and knocked on the window with a handgun.

Police said the offenders were involved in a vehicle crash at Broad Street and Allegheny Avenue in the vehicle that was taken in the Aug. 18 incident. The offenders then walked two blocks north and robbed the man.

Lastly, at 5:55 a.m. on Aug. 22, a 74-year-old woman was walking to her vehicle on the 2000 block of West Girard Avenue when she was approached by the offenders who were walking west on Girard Avenue.

They pushed the victim to the ground and took her keys and wallet. One of the offenders was armed with a semi-automatic handgun.

One suspect is described as a 17-year-old black male standing 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build.

The other is believed to be between 10 and 12 years old, standing 4 feet 8 inches to 5 feet tall, with puffy hair.
