Aunts and uncles, bring your nieces and nephews (of any relation) on a nighttime forest adventure. Hike to the meadow, listen for nighttime sounds, and enjoy marshmallows around a campfire.
This hike is best for children 6 years and older. All ages welcome to enjoy the campfire. FREE. Learn more.
Explore the best kept secret in Philly parks: the trails of Haddington Woods. This section of Cobbs Creek features hilly trails and active forest restoration projects, including the use of large deer exclosures.
Meet at the entrance to the park at the northwest corner of Market and 63rd St., near the 63rd St. El stop (street parking). Dress for walking on gravel, a few muddy patches, and some stretches of un-mowed grass. Learn more.
We need volunteers to help remove invasive plants, clean up litter, and plant native plants. Together, we’ll remove litter that could otherwise end up in waterways and promote native plants that filter stormwater pollution. Learn more.
Follow along with our instructor as she paints the alluring Bartram meadow, or let inspiration strike you and paint to your heart’s content. Learn more.
Join stargazers of all ages to learn about the astronomical wonders of the night sky. Gaze at Venus, Mars, and observe the textured surface of the moon. Novice and experienced astronomers alike will be given insights and tips by experienced instructor Buddy Muhler. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own telescopes or high powered binoculars. Limited telescopes available to use with sanitation protocol in place. Learn more and purchase tickets.
The party starts when the sun goes down!
Join the staff at Cobbs Creek Environmental Center to explore the moths and other flying insects that come out when we go to bed. Help set up stations using light as well as bait to lure in the bugs to view them. You will also learn how you can study nocturnal insects at your own home.
Wear shoes suitable for walking on a gravel path and some muddy spots.
Join us for an evening around the fire for family friendly stories told by Pete.
The Fairmount Park Trolley operated in East & West Park from 1896-1946. The trolleys provided a reliable and enjoyable means of accessing park amenities. Explore the physical remains of what is now a hidden trolley network including massive stone tunnels and bridge abutments along this 4-mile loop hike led by Kevin Roche. Learn more.
Meet at 3250 Chamounix Dr, Philadelphia, PA 19131-3710.
