Civilian Helps Nab Dirtbiker Who Struck Philly Sergeant: Reports

A good Samaritan helped keep an accused illegal dirt bike rider at the scene after the rider crashed into a Philadelphia Police sergeant.

PHILADELPHIA — A good Samaritan helped capture a dirt bike rider who crashed into a Philadelphia Police sergeant Wednesday night.

The crash happened at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at Stanwood and Leon streets, NBC10 reports.

According to Fox 29, the sergeant was riding his motorcycle west on Stanwood when he was struck by a dirt biker who was heading north on Leon.

The civilian, Anthony Wade, tried to subdue the rider, who was trying to flee the area, and the sergeant was able to hold the suspect at the scene, Action News reports.

According to reports, the sergeant was taken to a hospital for treatment and is in stable condition.
