Cooling Buses Open During Heat Wave In Philly

The city has four SEPTA buses open for the public to cool off in during the oppressive heat wave. See where and when you can cool off here.

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia has opened four air-conditioned SEPTA buses to help residents stay cool amid the intense heat wave.

Buses are located at Germantown and Allegheny avenues; Wyoming and Rising Sun avenues; Broad Street and Snyder Avenue; and 52nd Street and Larchwood Avenue.

The buses are open through 7 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Masks, hand sanitizer, water, and information about heat safety and utility assistance programs will be available on the buses.

The City of Philadelphia requests consideration for the privacy of anyone using the cooling buses.

As announced earlier in the week, the City of Philadelphia’s Heat Health Emergency response also includes 12 cooling centers located in libraries, and the activation of the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging’s Heatline, which can be reached at 215-765-9040.
