Crash Kills Man Riding Electric Bike On Broad Street: Police

The striking driver is cooperating with police after fatally hitting a man riding an electric bike early Monday morning, police said.

PHILADELPHIA — A man was killed in a crash on Broad Street in North Philadelphia early Monday morning, according to police.

The crash happened at about 1:55 a.m. on the 3700 block of North Broad Street, police said.

Police believe Michael Buie, 51, was riding a bike in that area at that time when he and a Nissan heading south on Broad collided.

Buie was crossing Broad from the west side of the street against a red light when the crash occurred, police said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and called 911.

Emergency medial personnel pronounced Buie dead at 2:08 a.m.

The crash is being investigated.
