Credit Card Skimmers Found At 3 Philadelphia Gas Stations
All three skimmers were found at Sunoco gas stations; one in East Falls, one in East Mount Airy, and one in South Philadelphia, police said.
PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia Police said credit card skimmers were found on ATMs at three Philadelphia gas stations recently.
According to police, all three skimmers were located at ATMs inside Sunoco gas stations, one in East Falls, one in East Mount Airy, and one in South Philadelphia.
The first was discovered on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the Sunoco at 2601 Penrose Ave. in South Philadelphia, police said.

A customer had trouble using the ATM, police said.
Then, store staff assisted the customer and unexpectedly pulled a green globe device off of the ATM, according to police.

That device allowed the suspect to obtain account information related to the cards used at the ATM, police said.

Police said the two other skimmers were found the same day on Thursday, Feb. 1.
The first was found at about 12:01 p.m. at the Sunoco at 168 Ridge Ave. in East Falls, police said.
A customer pulled a similar green globe device from the ATM as the one found at the South Philly Sunoco, police said.
Security footage showed a white male come into the store the morning of Jan. 31 and go directly to the ATM where he installed the card skimmer.
The suspect the fled the store on foot heading north on Ridge Avenue, police said.
Then at about 2:15 p.m. that same day, police were alerted to another skimmer at the Sunoco at 8261 Stenton Ave. in East Mt. Airy.
Authorities arrived at the store and found one PIN recording camera and SD Card attached to the ATM, as well as a similar green globe skimming device, police said.
Store surveillance video showed a white male enter the store, go directly to the ATM, and attach the devices, police said.
The suspect was then seen leaving the store on foot heading east on Stenton Avenue. He was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a multi colored baseball cap.
