Dirt Biker Shot By Cop After Pulling Gun During Stop: Philly Police
The man is in stable condition after being shot by an officer who saw him pull out a firearm during a dirt bike stop, police said.
PHILADELPHIA — A Philadelphia Police officer shot a man after the man pulled out a gun during a traffic stop over the weekend, according to authorities.
The incident occurred at about 3:20 p.m. Saturday on the 2700 block of North 6th Street, near West Somerset Street, police said.
According to police, officers were following up on a tip from a police helicopter regarding a dirt bike weaving through traffic.

A uniformed officer in a marked patrol car eventually found the suspect and dirt bike.
As the officer told the man the vehicle would be confiscated due to its illegal operation, the man became agitated and reached for a concealed weapon, police said.

Officer Paul Moore, who was behind the suspect, saw the man reach for the weapon and the man drawing it, police said.
Moore tried to disarm the man but was unable to, leading him to fire at the man multiple times, striking him, police said.
Police took the man to Temple University Hospital, where he is in stable condition, according to police.
The man's weapon was found at the scene.
Moore is 32 years old, a 6-year veteran of the Philadelphia Police Department, and is assigned to the 22nd District.
He has been placed on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigations conducted by Internal Affairs and the Officer-involved Shooting Unit.
