Discover ArtShow: the hidden artistic talents in your own neighborhood

Philadelphia is a city full of amazing artists. There are literally thousands of artists in our fair city but only a small fraction of them are well known. ArtShow with host Craig Stover seeks to change that by presenting brief but in-depth interviews with many of the best ones.

Earlier this summer, Craig began interviewing his many artist friends and posted those interviews on his new youtube channel at: @ArtShowwithCraigStover. Since then hundreds of new viewers and subscribers have tuned in to learn about new artists and old friends. The artists talk about their start in the arts, who or what started that spark that got them going, what they are making now, how they make it and what they really think that being in the arts have done for them. Craig Stover gets his guests to open up about their time in the art world without a bunch of art-speak or high-brow questions (they are more like conversations between two artists). Often the artists will reveal insights or secrets into their work that can change how people understand what it is that they do.

New interviews with artists (pictured here) Cayley Plutnick, Kathryn Pannepacker, Jenny Kurtzler and Tom Brady have just been published and join a long list of accomplished artists on the program. Artists like John E. Dowell, David Graham, Syd Carpenter, Tom Judd and many others have already sat down with Craig to reveal their secrets and are definitely worth a watch. ArtShow host Craig Stover has spent years in the arts in Philadelphia working with a wide number of arts organizations and most recently served as the Executive Director for Allens Lane Art Center in Mt. Airy (for over a decade). Additionally, Craig is also a fine artist himself who established his studio in the Fairmount neighborhood over 20 years ago. In 2020 while running Allens Lane during the pandemic, he had to shut down the gallery because of covid and to keep the artists and constituents engaged, he created a version of ArtShow. Craig stepped down from the center in 2021 and revived ArtShow in June of 2023 with a new format and channel.
