Disney World Used As Placeholder For Philly Crime Locations: Report

An investigation into the Philadelphia Police Department showed some crime location data was entered as Disney World.

PHILADELPHIA — A new investigation shows Philadelphia Police entered "Disney World" as locations for crimes that occurred in the city.

According to NBC10, more than 5,000 crimes over the past six years were listed by police as occurring in Disney World.

The investigation shows these crimes included arson, homicides, and vehicle thefts.

When those happened, officers would mark the incident with GPS coordinates inside Disney World

"Specifically, the area behind Cinderella’s Castle known as 'Fantasyland' became the default location for inaccurate crime data," NBC10 investigators said.

The police department's director of research and analysis told the outlet the location was chosen to avoid bad data interfering with crime statistics.
