Here are the top stories today in Philadelphia:
- No, it's not the premise of the movie Groundhog's Day. Yes, another candidate has announced their run for Philadelphia mayor. Real estate magnate and former Philadelphia City Councilmember Allan Domb has announced he's running for mayor. The Democrat joins a crowded and growing field in next year's race to replace Mayor Jim Kenney. Domb says he was moved to run for mayor after hearing from constituents who say they do not feel safe. - Transportation Security Administration officers at the Philadelphia International Airport over the weekend found the 39th gun this year on a passenger. Officers found a .380 caliber handgun loaded with seven rounds, one of which was in the chamber, while doing an X-ray scan of the passenger's bags Saturday. Travelers are allowed to transport their firearms as checked baggage to be transported in the belly of the plane so that nobody has access to a gun during a flight. Checked firearms must be unloaded, placed in a hard-sided case, locked and packed separately from ammunition. (PA Patch)
- A Pennsylvania House Judiciary Committee voted in favor of articles of impeachment against Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner. The vote will now be sent to the floor of the state House. Republicans blame Krasner for the surge in crime because they consider the district attorney's policies too soft. (cbsnews.com)
