Double Murder Suspect Shot By Philly Police Friday After Chase

Police said the man is accused of murdering his wife and his mother-in-law at a Northeast Philadelphia home then leading police on a chase.

PHILADELPHIA – A double murder suspect was shot by Philadelphia Police Friday, March 2 after police tracked the suspect from Philadelphia to Montgomery County during a chase, police said.

According to authorities, police were called to a home on the 3400 block of Chippendale Street in Northeast Philadelphia at about 7:30 p.m. for a shooting.

Police found a 42-year-old woman, later identified as the suspect's wife, and a 71-year-old woman, later identified as the suspect's mother-in-law, suffering from gunshot wounds to the head. They were both pronounced dead shortly after being found, according to police.

Police learned the suspect was a 44-year-old man and his relation to the victims.

The suspect allegedly fled the area after the shooting in a silver Nissan Rogue which police saw on Veree and Red Lion roads in the city's Bustleton section, police said.

Officers pursued the vehicle to Lower Moreland Township in Montgomery County, where the vehicle pulled over in the parking lot of the Bethayres Train Depot on Station Avenue, police said.

The suspect got out of his vehicle and allegedly pointed a gun at officers, which led to four officers to shoot at the suspect, striking him in the right arm, police said.

Police said the suspect got back inside his vehicle and was then arrested. He is in stable condition, police said.

Police found a loaded 9mm handgun in the suspect's vehicle.

Authorities did not release the victims' or the suspect's name.

Police are investigating the incident.
