Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:
- The 12000 block of Verda Drive in Northeast Philadelphia is almost out of Philadelphia city limits but gun violence found its way to this quiet, well-kept neighborhood across from the Franklin Mills Mall. It was just after 9 p.m. on Saturday evening when a man and his 5 year-old son were shot several times in what police say was a targeted attack. The child was shot in the elbow, his father twice in the hip. Both were taken to area hospitals and are in stable condition. (6abc Philadelphia)
- The Eagles have landed. But not after hundreds of their fans gathered at Lincoln Financial Field for a Sunday morning sendoff party before The Birds hopped on a plane and flew to Super Bowl 57 in Phoenix Arizona. (6abc Philadelphia).
- A crack in the rails of the Market-Frankford Elevated Line caused a northbound train to derail off the tracks on Saturday night. About 100 passengers were aboard the train and were evacuated and transported on shuttle buses. Crews worked overnight to repair the crack but further investigations will continue. Don't worry about Monday morning rush to work traffic, the trains are running on schedule. (billypenn.com)
