Feds Nab Man Sought In Assault, Robbery Of Philly Cop

Federal authorities took Arthur Jones into custody Tuesday as he was sought in connection with the assault and robbery of an off-duty cop.

PHILADELPHIA — Federal authorities said they have apprehended the man authorities said was involved in the assault and robbery of an off-duty Philadelphia Police officer in mid-May.

The U.S. Marshals Eastern Pennsylvania Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force arrested Arthur Jones, 38, at a hotel in the 8800 block Tinicum Boulevard in Philadelphia Tuesday.

Jones was wanted by the Philadelphia Police Department in connection with the May 12 assault and robbery of off-duty Philadelphia Police Officer Eric Rodriguez, a 42-year-old, 9 year veteran of the police department.

Jones was wanted for robbery and aggravated assault in connection with the incident on the 2100 West Oxford Street.

Investigators from the Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Philadelphia developed information Jones was hiding in a hotel in Southwest Philadelphia. Jones surrendered to investigators without incident when confronted Tuesday morning.

Jones is the fourth person taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Cian Dennis, 23, is charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, and related charges. Dennis was the man police had identified as "Duke," previously.

Khamil Brown, 24, was charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, firearm violations, and related charges.

Yusef Coleman, 24, was also charged with criminal conspiracy, aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, robbery, theft by unlawful taking, violations of the uniform firearms act, and related offenses.
