Fight to #ENDALZ at the 2021 Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer's
Walk to End Alzheimer's is World's Largest Event Dedicated to Alzheimer's Care, Support and Research.

The Alzheimer’s Association is inviting Philadelphia area residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on November 13, 2021 at Citizens Bank Park. The Philadelphia Walk is one of the largest in the country, bringing together folks from across our diverse communities to fundraise and support the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.
On Walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony — a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s — their personal reasons to end the disease.
“The Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer’s is truly an amazing, energetic and thoughtful event, drawing on the support of those across many communities in the Philadelphia area. The mission of the Association, and the Walk itself, are also personally important to me as the 2021 Walk also marks the 10th Anniversary of my family’s participation,” said Holly Rush, Director of the Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “All of the work of the Association is focused on supporting those who are living with the disease, their caregivers, and those whose loved ones have been impacted. The funds raised by the Walk support Association care, support and research.”

While plans are moving forward to host the Philadelphia Walk in person, the health and safety of participants, staff and volunteers remain the top priorities as decisions are made about event details. Options will be offered to participate online and in local neighborhoods.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease – a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.

In Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware, there are more than 489,000 people living with the disease and 893,000 caregivers.
“I don’t think I could have imagined how important the Walk to End Alzheimer’s would eventually become to me when I brought my Poppop, cousin, and sisters to the event in 2010,” said Shannon Simcox, Chair of the Philadelphia Walk to End Alzheimer’s. “Although my Poppop’s fight against Alzheimer’s ended in 2014, I continue to work tirelessly in his memory and for the thousands of friends we made on our annual Walk down Citizens Bank Way. In the face of this debilitating disease for which there is no cure, this community, enriched by each new Walker, is our greatest tool for a world without Alzheimer’s. I’m honored to be a part of it.”
