Get A Free Flu Shot At Philly Health Centers Now
While the Philadelphia Department of Public Health said no flu cases have been reported, it expects to see some in the coming weeks.

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Department of Public Health announced on Monday, Sept. 11 that all city Health Centers are accepting walk-in patients to get their flu shots.
Free influenza immunizations are available to all Philadelphia residents at the City’s District Health Centers.
There is no charge to the person, but residents with insurance will have the vaccine administration billed to their insurers.

“The flu shot is for everyone older than 6 months of age, not just older adults,” Thomas Farley, Philadelphia Health Commissioner, said in the announcement. “And the best time to get your flu shot is now, before the virus arrives. This helps to prevent it from gaining a foothold and keeps all of us more safe.”
The 2017- 2018 vaccine immunizes against the following types:

- A/Michigan/45/2015 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus
- A/Hong Kong/4801/2014 (H3N2)-like virus
- B/Brisbane/60/2008-like (B/Victoria lineage) virus
Those at increased risk for influenza complications include seniors, all children 6-23 months of age, as well as children and adults of any age who suffer from chronic diseases of a cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal or metabolic nature. Those include:
- asthma,
- bronchitis,
- kidney or liver problems,
- diabetes,
- Addison's disease,
- diseases associated with immunosupression such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection,
- and other disorders.
Influenza vaccine should not be given to anyone who has a severe allergy to eggs.
Immunizations will be administered on a walk-in basis at the City's District Health Care Centers, Monday through Friday.
Those wishing to be immunized should bring:
- Photo Identification;
- Insurance card (if applicable);
- Proof of Philadelphia residency.

Health Center 2 – 1700 South Broad St.
Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Health Center 3 – 555 South 43rd St.
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Health Center 4 – 4400 Haverford Ave.
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m and 1 p.m. to 3: p.m.
Health Center 5 – 1900 North 20th St.
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Health Center 6 – 321 West Girard Ave.
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Health Center 9 – 131 East Chelten Ave.
Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Health Center 10 – 2230 Cottman Ave.
Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m and noon to 3 p.m.
