Girl, 8, Among 3 Hurt When Crashed Scooter Rider Opens Fire In Philly

PHILADELPHIA — Three people, including a young girl, were hurt by gunfire from a scooter rider who crashed on Allegheny Avenue Thursday in Philadelphia.

The incident occurred at about 2:47 p.m. Thursday on the 300 block of East Allegheny Avenue, police said.

Police said the 911 system began getting numerous calls for a shooting at that time and location.

Officers showed up and found two adults suffering from gunshots, one woman who was in a vehicle when she was shot and another who was on foot.

Both were taken to hospitals.

Then, police leaned a third victim, an 8-year-old girl, was taken to St. Christopher's Hospital after being shot while in a vehicle with her father.

All three victims are in stable condition.

The instigating crash occurred as a van heading south on Rosehill Street tried to turn left onto East Allegheny Avenue when it hit a man on a scooter who was captured on video speeding down the center lane of Allegheny heading west.

The scooter's driver was flung from the vehicle and video shows him getting up, pulling out a handgun, and start firing indiscriminately down Allegheny to the east.
