Good morning, everybody! It's Monday in Philadelphia and the Phillies are heading to the World Series! Did you hear the pandemonium last night? The city was full of fireworks, dancing, and fans taking over the streets as the Phils defeated San Diego in a rainy Game 5! Today you'll find news about:

  • The Phillies are going to the World Series!
  • "Ack-a-me " Markets sell for $24.6 Billion.
  • The Fetterman/Oz race for PA Senate will be a nail-biter.

Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. The Philadelphia Phillies beat the San Diego Padres in Game 5 of the NLCS last night and now advance to the World Series. The city of Philadelphia had workers grease traffic poles at major intersections to prevent fans from climbing them in celebration. It did not work. (inquirer.com)
  2. The two biggest supermarket chains in America will be merging. Albertsons Companies, the owner of the once popular Philly grocery store chain Acme Markets, will be acquired by competitor Kroger in a deal worth $24.6 billion. There are more than 150 Acme stores operating in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, New York and Connecticut. (PhillyVoice)
  3. PA Lieutenant Governor and Senate Candidate John Fetterman made a campaign stop at Dickinson Square Park in South Philly this weekend. Both candidates are crisscrossing the Commonwealth as pundits report the race is almost at a tie. He'll debate Dr. Oz other this week. (msn.com)
