Hundreds Of Layoffs Coming As Philadelphia Vitamin Plant Closes

The International Vitamin Corporation filed a WARN notice announcing its closure. The closure will cause more than 200 layoffs.

PHILADELPHIA — More than 200 people will be out of work when a Philadelphia vitamin processing plant closes this year.

The International Vitamin Corporation, located at 10101 Roosevelt Boulevard, filed a WARN notice with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry recently, announcing its closure.

According to the notice, 203 workers will be laid off as a result of the closure.

Layoffs will occur in four stages.

On June 2, 105 employees will be laid off.

Then 10 will be laid off on July 7, 70 on Oct. 6, and finally 18 on Dec. 1.

The notice states company-wide restructuring forced the closure.

The company — which is headquartered in California — produces vitamin softgel, tablets, and powders, as well as offers customized packaging services.

International Vitamin Corporation's California and overseas operations will continue, the notice said.
