Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. A woman contacted ACCT Philly to come get the pet her ex-boyfriend left in the house they shared because she couldn't care for it anymore. Behind a heavy padlocked door in the basement of a Hunting Park home, ACCT rescuers found an 8-foot alligator. It was purchased as a baby gator back in 2012 and over a decade later - well, this is how urban legends are started. Not surprisingly, in true Philly fashion, ACCT said this is the fourth gator rescue the department had this spring. (www.inquirer.com)
  2. Ex-City Councilmember Bobby Henon reported to federal prison at FCI Fort Dix, New Jersey on Monday to begin serving a three-and-a-half-year sentence. He was convicted of bribery in a trial last year that also uncovered, through FBI wiretaps, a sexual extramarital affair he was having with his chief of staff, Courtney Voss, while she was on the city's and Henon's payroll. (6abc Philadelphia)
  3. The Polish Rifle Ron Jaworski was famous for his throwing arm on the football field for the Philadelphia Eagles. Nowadays, "Jaws" is a generous benefactor to many non-profits through his Jaws Youth Program and gifted $40,000 to the Wynnewood PAL for a new gym floor. (6abc Philadelphia)

From my notebook:

  • Give this pizza delivery dude from Delco season tickets to the Phils and Eagles. Our pals at Crossing Broad got their hands on the Ring camera from a Delaware County home as they opened the door for the pizza delivery guy. In the background, a high speed police car chase ends in their cul de sac. If you watch one video today make sure it's this one! (Crossing Broad)
  • 36 Years Ago at Veteran's Stadium, Michael Jack Schmidt hit his 500th home run. Check out the Phillies Fever FB PAge and read it in Harry Kalas's voice! (Facebook)
  • How does a hoagie maker's daughter from Northeast Philly become the world's first supermodel? Gabbagool! Here's a great piece on "Gia." (billypenn.com)
