Interstate 76 West Closing Due To Viaduct Work
I-76 will be closed this and next weekend, and it will be down to one lane in the afternoon and evening and then closed overnight next week.

PHILADELPHIA — Traffic on Interstate 76 in Philadelphia will be impeded by work on a viaduct during weekends, afternoons, evenings, and nights, according to PennDOT.
PennDOT said westbound Interstate 76 will be closed this weekend and next weekend.
It will also be reduced to one lane during the afternoon and evening and then closed overnight next week for rehabilitation and repaving of the viaduct between University Avenue and 30th Street.

Below are details on the work schedule and locations:
- From 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, westbound I-76 will be closed and detoured between the University Avenue and 30th Street interchanges for viaduct milling and paving. The westbound University Avenue on-ramp, and the westbound South Street on- and off- ramps also will be closed;
- Monday, Aug. 10, through Thursday, Aug. 13, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., westbound I-76 will be reduced to a single lane, then closed completely from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning between the University Avenue and 30th Street interchanges. The westbound University Avenue on-ramp and the westbound South Street on- and off-ramps also will be closed; and
- Friday, Aug. 14, from 5:00 a.m. to 7 p.m., westbound I-76 will be reduced to one lane, then closed completely and detoured from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, between the University Avenue and 30th Street interchanges for viaduct milling and paving. The westbound University Avenue on-ramp, and the westbound South Street on- and off- ramps also will be closed.
During this weekend’s and next week’s closures of westbound I-76, driver coming from New Jersey will be directed to go north on Interstate 95, then west on I-676 to get on westbound I-76.

Westbound local motorists will exit at University Avenue and follow the posted detours to the ramp to I-76 west.
Drivers should use alternates route or allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather permitting.
