PHILADELPHIA — James McAvoy seems to really have learned a lot while filming "Split" and "Glass" in and around Philadelphia, as he stumped a room full of people with a Philly-specific term while doing press for "It: Chapter Two."

McAvoy and co-star Jessica Chastain did an interview with LADBible in which they quizzed one another on Scottish and American slang terms.

About halfway through testing their international slang knowledge, McAvoy called an audible and tossed out a slang term he picked up here in the city: jawn.

While his pronunciation wasn't pure Philly (his Scottish accent was in full force, but he nailed the Philly accent on Saturday Night Live in the past), he stumped Chastain and whoever was behind the camera.

"Can you pass me that jawn?" he said as an example. "In Philly, a jawn can be many, many things. It means 'thing.'" A perfect summation of our quirky catch all word.

Chastain had no clue and neither did anyone else. The most egregious part of the clip, however, is mere seconds later someone behind the camera said they were from Philly.

"Philadelphians of the world, please hit up LADBible and back me up that jawn is a thing," McAvoy said.
