Jazz blues guitarist Mike Armando will be appearing with his band, the Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Band on October 26th, 2025 at the Philadelphia City Winery. Mike was the guitarist for Screamin' Jay Hawkins in the 1970's. I am pretty sure you remember the tune "I Put A Spell On You".

His music and theatrical stage act will come back to life on October 26th at the Philadelphia City Winery.

Mike's days of performing with Hawkins are detailed in a book written by author Steve Bergsman, titled "I Put A Spell On You: The Bizarre Life of Screamin' Jay Hawkins," and is published by Feral House. Mike said when the book was first released, people could now read about the life of Screamin' Jay Hawkins, and then he thought to himself, why not bring these bizarre performances back to life on stage again? And he did! Mike Armando formed the Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Band. Mike searched high and low and found one of the best singers around who took on this challenging task. Shakar "TheRealShakar" Brumfield is a vocalist, actor, poet, and writer from Brooklyn, NY, who won the best vocalist award at the Apollo Theater in New York City and now the vocalist for the Resurrection of Screamin' Jay Hawkins Band. You will be able to see this most exciting show on October 26th at the Philadelphia City Winery. Some of the other members of the group are saxophonist Tony Lento, Tom Kopec - keyboardist, Andrew Golba - bass and Michael Fox on drums.
