Jesus In Islam

Jesus has already come back, and never ascended to the sky; if you want to know the details of what this claim and how it came about to be, read further. Most Muslims believe that Jesus has physically risen to the heavens, because of their misinterpretation of the Qur’anic verse which states, “…God exalted him to himself…” (4:159), thus reaffirming the Christian belief that Jesus physically ascended to the heavens and was not killed. Yet on the other hand Muslims also claim that he is not the son of God but a prophet; then how could a man who, in their own eyes, is a prophet equal or subordinate to the prophet of their own faith, ascend to the sky while their own prophet who they consider the “Seal of the Prophets” died a natural death?
Ahmadi Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet and interpret the above Qur’anic verse to mean that Jesus was cleared of the accusation of being a false prophet which was placed upon him by the Romans and the Jews, was spiritually elevated to God, and was able to survive the crucifixion, and eventually died a natural death. The Qur’an further states, “Remember the time when God said, O Jesus, I will cause thee to die a natural death and will raise thee to myself, and will clear thee of the charges of those who disbelieve” (3:56).
Because we believe Jesus died a natural death, we do not believe the actual Jesus is coming back, rather another Messiah did come back to reform the most recent original teachings and law of God from among the Abrahamic faiths, that is, Islam. The dissension between Ahmadis and other Muslims lies in the interpretation of verse 41 of chapter 33 of the Qur’an which says, “…he is the Messenger of God, and the Seal of the Prophets;…” Non-Ahmadi Muslims take this to mean that he is the last prophet and there can be no prophet after him, thus closing the door on any Messiah appearing after his death. But Ahmadi Muslims take this to mean something else entirely; they believe that this means that Prophet Muhammad is the noblest of all prophets, who is the last law-bearing prophet, and most importantly, any future prophet or Messiah would have to come from his spiritual lineage.
Thus, Ahmadi Muslims believe that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be on him) is the messiah and subordinate to Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be on him), the same way that Jesus (peace be on him) was the messiah and subordinate to Moses (peace be on him). We do not give him any extraordinary physical attributes or believe he ascended to the sky as that would break the laws of nature which God had established himself.
