JNFuture Young Professionals “Let Lucy” at Shabbat at the Shore
Over 100 come together for JNFuture's Signature Event at Lucy the Elephant

On August 18, 2023, for the first time since 2018, over 100 young professionals came together at the iconic Lucy the Elephant for Jewish National Fund-USA’s “Margate Meets Tel Aviv” JNFuture Shabbat at the Shore.
Hyped on social media by Aleeza ben Shalom of Netflix’s “Jewish Matchmaking” as “an incredible way to meet wonderful people,” the Shabbat at the Shore event connected Philly and Jersey community members between the ages of 22-40 who share a passion for supporting the land and people of Israel. In addition to networking, schmoozing, and enjoying a delicious Shabbat meal, attendees also had an opportunity to visit Lucy, a community icon with a rich past that has been designated as a National Historic Landmark.
The young philanthropists learned about several of Jewish National Fund-USA’s initiatives that build a strong, vibrant future for the land and people of Israel. In particular, JNFuture leadership highlighted one of the organization’s affiliates, ADI Negev Nahalat Eran, a world-class Israeli rehabilitation facility that cares for and empowers people with disabilities. Supported by the organization as part of its investment in improving the quality of life for people of all abilities and ensuring that no one gets left behind in Israeli society, ADI Negev features fully accessible residential villas, an intensive care hospital wing, a special education school, green care farm, hydrotherapy and sports therapy complexes, a therapeutic horse stable, and a petting zoo.

“We were blown away by the work being done at ADI Negev Nahalat Eran,” said JNFuture Vice President, Philadelphia Dani Barsky. “Before Adi Negev, individual prognoses were often extremely bleak. Parents were told to expect in many cases that their children would never have any role in society, a quality of life in complete dependence on those around them, and no way to communicate with them. ADI Negev has challenged those thoughts and made unbelievable strides in giving agency to some of the most vulnerable citizens of Israel.”
Attendees were also encouraged to join thousands of Israel supporters and hundreds of young philanthropists at the Global Conference for Israel (jnf.org/global), taking place from November 30-December 3, 2023, in Denver, CO.
