Here are the top three stories in Philadelphia today:
- The jury in the federal bribery re-trial of Philadelphia City Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson, his wife and two executives of the Universal Companies ended its fourth day of deliberations on Tuesday without a verdict. The first trial ended in a hung jury. This time, the judge has visited the jury room and vice versa as they agree to keep working toward a verdict. (msn.com)
- Halloween violence plagued the city Monday evening when at least 10 shots were fired in a car crash turned shooting in Southwest Philadelphia. Police say 27-year-old Phan Tran crashed into a vehicle with two women and a 5-year-old child inside on the 6400 block of Dickens Avenue around 4 p.m. After the crash, both drivers had firearms and a bystander tried to intervene and was allegedly shot by Tran. This shooting comes the same night four men were killed and another injured in shootings across the city. (fox29.com).
- When a Halloween World Series Game 3 was postponed due to heavy rains, it did not dampen the Phillies bats as they scored seven runs in the first five innings last night. Harper, Marsh, Bohm, Hoskins and Schwarber all hit homers. With a crowd of 46,000 plus at Citizens Bank Park, the Phils beat the Astros in Game 3. (espn.com)

From my notebook:
- The Roosevelt Boulevard Subway? Thirty years ago, this writer's high school friends that lived in the far Northeast part of Philly had to take several buses for several hours to get to Center City. Cutting school would have been so much easier if we had a subway extension along Roosevelt Boulevard! In a public meeting hosted by Pennsylvania Rep. Jared Solomon, representatives from SEPTA, PennDOT and the Philadelphia Office of Transportation and Infrastructure discussed the project, which has long been called for as a way to better connect Northeast Philadelphia to Center City and make one of the city's most dangerous roads safer. The idea for a subway along Roosevelt Boulevard dates back more than a century. (bizjournals.com)
- ACCT Philly: "Meet the happiest-but unluckiest- dog🐶, and one of the many faces of breed discrimination by landlords. Housing issues were the top reason for surrender for dogs to ACCT in October, accounting for nearly 20 percent of dogs surrendered." (ACCT Philly via Facebook)
- Blood is thicker than Cheese Whiz Angelo's Pizza balk at feeding the Houston Astros. We grabbed this from Twitter. Amber Sarcone @ambersarcone, of the famed Sarcone Bakery family reported: "My cousin (Angelo's Pizza) denied the Astros cheesesteaks today and their fans are threatening to bomb his store. I don't want to EVER hear people talking about Philly throwing snow balls to Santa again." Angelo's is widely known for their cheesesteaks and brick oven pizza pies. Customers are used to calling hours in advance and they sell out daily. If we had to make a guess, maybe the Astros ordered some Shorti hoagies from one of the Wawas that hasn't closed in the City.
