🌱 Krasner's Bad Week + Wawa Closes Overnight + GOD Is a Phillies Fan

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Philadelphia. Phils win Game 3 last night!

(Patch Media)

Hello, everybody! It's me, Patty-Pat Kozlowski, your host of the Philadelphia Daily. Here are all the most important things to know about what's happening locally, including:

  • DA Larry Krasner is having a very bad week: impeachment probable & sued by a defendant.
  • Due to robberies, Wawa closes nine Northeast Philly & Bucks County stores overnight.
  • The Phillies have a divine intervention, says Sister John Magdalen.

But first, today's weather:

Nice with plenty of sunshine. High: 70 Low: 51.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Philadelphia who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Philadelphia Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is being sued by former Philadelphia Police Officer Ryan Pownall and expects an impeachment vote soon from the PA House of Representatives. Citing that his constitutional rights were repeatedly violated and the D.A.'s office manipulated a grand jury and mishandled evidence and lacked candor, Pownall's case was thrown out of court by Judge Barbara McDermott last month. (inquirer.com)
  2. If you have a late-night craving for hoagies, Tastykakes, or a pack of cigarettes, your Wawa might be closed. Nine Wawa's in Northeast Philly and Bucks County are shutting down overnight due to an uptick in armed robberies and crime. (PA Patch)
  3. San Diego might have a praying padre as a mascot but the Phillies have Sister John Magdalen of Saint Matt's in Mayfair. "We do know God is a Phillies fan, so it's okay that we pray for the Phillies," she said. (6abc Philadelphia)

Today in Philadelphia:

  • Beatles in Bossa - Brazilian Jazz Concert (2:00 PM)
  • HalloWeekend Pub Crawl Philadelphia - October, 2022 (3:00 PM)
  • The Dozen Divas Halloween SPECIAL SPookTacular (7:00 PM)
  • Phillies vs Padres @ Misconduct Tavern – October 17-25, 2022 (7:45 PM)
  • SAW The Musical: The Unauthorized Parody of Saw (9:30 PM)

From my notebook:

  • Trust me on this one, get in your car and drive 90 minutes northeast to Jim Thorpe, PA this weekend. The fall foilage is epic, the Molly Maguires historical jail needs to be visited and you'll see why we call it Pennsylvania's Little Switzerland. (Oh, and stop in the Blue Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery and talk Eagles with Philly girl Barbara McCabe behind the bar. )(inquirer.com)
  • Please don't buy dogs from sketchy social media ads. Our area has the SPCA, PhillyACCT and dozens of other non-profit pet shelters and rescues with thousands of dogs that need your couch and bed. Check out this story about stolen checks, counterfeit cash and a bunch of high priced pups. (Northampton Daily Voice)
  • School District of Philadelphia: "When your principal is a Cowboys fan, it's only fitting for the school to end the week celebrating the @philadelphiaeagles victory and giving him a green mohawk! Thanks to Charles W. Henry School's Principal Ross for being such a good sp..." (School District of Philadelphia via Facebook)
