Landline 911 Calls Working For Philadelphians After Outage

Some Philadelphians were unable to reach 911 by landline phone for more than 12 hours due to a Verizon outage.

PHILADELPHIA – After a Verizon outage left residents in West and Northwest Philadelphia unable to call 911 from landline phones, the service has been restored.

Philadelphia officials said just before noon Tuesday that landline 911 calls were up and running.

An underground wiring issue is believed to have been the cause of the outage. Verizon crews are working to fully repair the issue.
