Main Line Health, Penn Medicine Impacted By Global Tech Outage

The global CrowdStrike outage led local healthcare providers to pause elective procedures and say some appointments would be canceled.

PHILADELPHIA — Two major healthcare providers in the Philadelphia region have been impacted by the global technology outage Friday.

Penn Medicine and Main Line Health are reporting their systems are still affected by the CrowdStrike disruption.

Penn Medicine said appointments in some locations may need to be canceled and rescheduled Friday.

"We are making every effort to contact patients whose appointments need to be canceled," the healthcare group said. "We will also contact you to reschedule your appointment as soon as possible. Penn experts are working to restore our usual operations ASAP."

Our hospitals, including our emergency departments, are fully staffed and continuing to care for patients.

Main Line Health said it is "experiencing unexpected system issues to clinical and non-clinical applications."

Elected surgical procedures were paused Friday morning, but all operations otherwise are normal.

"Main Line Health is not on divert and continues to accept patients for care," the group's website reads. "We are continuously reviewing our operations to ensure we can continue to deliver safe, high-quality and equitable care."

Virtua Health has also reported disruptions to its systems due to the outage.
