Another Killing At Philly's Pat's Steaks: Man Reportedly Beaten To Death With Trashcan Lid

PHILADELPHIA — A man died after being punched, kicked, and beaten with a trashcan lid outside a popular South Philadelphia cheesesteak spot that was the scene of a fatal shooting two months ago.

According to NBC10, a 28-year-old man died after being beaten at Pat's King of Steaks at about 1:56 a.m. Thursday when a group of soccer fans got into a brawl.

Two groups were at the business when an argument started, then quickly turned violent.

Action News reports at one point, someone started beating the victim with a metal trash can lid

The victim fell, then the attackers started punching and kicking him while he was on the ground.

Two others, a man in his 60s and a man in his 30s, were injured in the brawl but are stable, Fox 29 reports.

The attacking group was wearing jerseys featuring the colors of Mexican side Club America, which played the Union in Chester Wednesday, according to NBC.

Fox reports the group left the area in a light-colored SUV.

This is the second death to occur outside the cheesesteak business in less than two months.

David Padro, 22, of Camden, New Jersey, was shot and killed outside Pat's in the early morning of July 22.

Paul Burkert, 36, of Reading, was charged with murder, tampering with evidence, recklessly endangering another person, firearm crimes, and more in connection with Padro's death.

Additionally, Jamie Frick, 36, of Lebanon County, was charged with murder, tampering with evidence, conspiracy, and obstruction in connection with the fatal shooting.
