Man Dragged By Vehicle In Philadelphia Dies: Police
A woman drove to a restaurant believing she ran over a carpet, but in reality she had a man's body lodged under her vehicle, police said.
PHILADELPHIA — A man died after being struck and dragged by a vehicle Wednesday evening in Philadelphia, but police said the incident may not be as clear as a simple pedestrian strike.
The crash happened at about 7:20 p.m. on the 5100 block of Woodland Avenue and killed a 62-year-old man, police said. Police were called to that block at that time and found the man unresponsive in the street. He was pronounced dead at 7:47 p.m.
Investigators found a silver 2010 Hyundai at a Popeye’s restaurant in the 5200 block of Woodland Avenue. The driver, a 75-year-old woman, told police she thought she ran over a carpet near 35th Street and Grays Ferry Avenue. She drove to the restaurant, unaware that a body was lodged underneath the vehicle.

Police said when she pulled into the parking lot, the man's body dislodged from the vehicle's underbody.
Authorities believe the Hyundai may not have been the initial striking vehicle, possibly hitting the man after he was previously hit by another vehicle.

No arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed at this time.
