Man Gets Prison For Gun Threat Over Parking Space: Philly DA

A 33-year-old Philadelphia man will spend four to eight years in prison after threatening a 76-year-old man with a gun over a parking space.

PHILADELPHIA — After threatening a man with a gun over a parking dispute in 2023, a Philadelphia man has been firearm charges.

Members of the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office Elder Justice Unit Monday said Yousef Purdie, 33, was convicted by a jury of violations of the uniform firearms act for possessing a prohibited firearm that he used to threaten a 76-year-old man during a dispute over a parking space.

The evening of March 12, 2023, surveillance video captured the man pulling his vehicle into a parking space outside Laundromat America in the city's East Parkside section.

Purdie, with his girlfriend and two children with him, parked his car a few feet away and approached the victim's vehicle before demanding that the victim leave the space.

The man refused to move, then Prudie pulled out a firearm before going back to his vehicle.

Philadelphia Police showed up shortly after the victim called 911 and found the gun in Purdie's girlfriend's purse.

Purdie was sentenced to four to eight years of state incarceration.
