Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Tuesday Night: Philadelphia Police

Reports state the striking driver actually got out of the vehicle, looked at the victim, then drove off on Cheltenham Avenue.

PHILADELPHIA — Police in Philadelphia are asking for help finding the driver in a deadly hit-and-run crash that occurred Tuesday night.

The crash occurred at about 11:12 p.m. at 7900 Ogontz Avenue.

A 46-year-old man, identified as Maurice Bryant from the 1500 block of McKinley Street, was hit by a silver Ford sedan that was heading north on Ogontz Avenue.

Bryant was pronounced dead at 11:18 p.m.

Police said surveillance footage showed Bryant's body was dragged by the vehicle for 30 to 40 feet and was struck so hard his shoes flew off.

According to a witness, the driver got out of the vehicle, checked the damage, then drove off.

The driver was described as a black man with a stocky build who was wearing dark clothing.

The vehicle, which has dark tinted windows and likely has moderate to heavy damage to the hood and front windshield, drove off on Cheltenham Avenue in an unknown direction.
