Man Killed By Vehicle On Broad Street Saturday: Police

Visva Varathakumar died at about 7:15 p.m. Saturday after being struck by a vehicle at about 1 p.m. Saturday on Broad Street, police said.

PHILADELPHIA — A man was killed by a vehicle Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, police said.

The crash occurred at about 1:08 p.m. at 700 North Broad Street.

Killed was Visva Varathakumar, of the 1700 block of Willington Street.

A 24-year-old woman in a silver 2022 Nissan Rogue was heading north on Broad when she struck Varathakumar, police said.

Police said Varathakumar was trying to cross Broad from east to west.

Varathakumar landed on the roof of the vehicle and hit his dead on the windshield, police said.

He was pronounced dead at 7:13 p.m., police said.

Police are investigating the crash.
