Man Shot, Killed Near Popular Tourist Spot In Philadelphia

A man was shot to death near Philadelphia's iconic LOVE Park in Center City, allegedly by a security guard at the Christmas Village market.

PHILADELPHIA — A man was shot and killed by a Christmas Village security guard at Philadelphia's LOVE Park Tuesday night, according to reports.

According to Action News Gregory Thomas Sr., 43, has been charged with murder and related crimes after police said he shot and killed a 29-year-old man at LOVE Park.

The victim, whose identity has not been released, was found shot at about 8:45 p.m. in the park at 15th Street and John F. Kennedy Boulevard, NBC10 reports. The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Fox 29, Thomas got into an argument with the man, then got a handgun from a duffle bag inside his vehicle and shot the victim multiple times in the head, neck and abdomen.

Thomas's operations supervisor for the security company he worked was able to get in contact with him and took him to police headquarters later Tuesday after Thomas left the scene of the shooting, Action News reports.
