PHILADELPHIA — State and federal representatives in the Philadelphia area are decrying a woman's death at the hands of an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer in Minneapolis Wednesday.

Renee Nicole Good, 37, was shot and killed by an ICE officer in south Minneapolis. She was the mother of a 6-year-old child and the widow of a military veteran.

While Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described the woman’s actions as an act of domestic terrorism, opponents of ICE and the Trump administration are calling the shooting a tragedy.

"An ICE agent shot and killed a 37-year-old American citizen in Minneapolis today, further evidence that DHS's lawless and brutal tactics are not making Americans safer," Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon (D-5th District) said on social media.

She said the administration's comments on the incident "are directly contradicted by video and eyewitness testimony." The video is available to view here, but it contains graphic content.

"This rogue agency is spreading fear and violence, endangering our communities," Scanlon said. "It must be reined in."

Locally, State Rep. Lisa Borowski expressed her outrage on social media and echoed Scanlon's comments on alleged contradictory statements from the administration.

"Gaslighting. It is the mantra of this administration. Don’t believe what you see, only believe what you are told," she said.

While she supports law enforcement, Borowski said, "ICE has strayed way beyond the safe practices of law enforcement by turning their efforts into PR stunts which invite protest."

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey also disputed the administration's characterization of the incident, calling it "bull****," and told ICE to "get the f*** out of Minneapolis."

"The incident in Minneapolis yesterday, the killing of a US citizen in a US neighborhood, is bad practice, bad training, and ignorance of the law on full display," she said. "Who will hold this administration accountable as they ignore our own laws? Who we hold them accountable as they ignore international law? An administration driven by greed, hate, fear (yes, they are cowards), childish whims, and the mantra of world domination is making the US weaker, less safe, and ultimately hurting us all."

US. Rep. Dwight Evans, a Democrat representing Pennsylvania's 3rd Congressional District in Congress, condemned the shooting, calling Good's death "brutal murder... by ICE agents."

"There should be bipartisan outrage about this tragedy," he said. The Republican majorities in Congress need to join with Democrats to demand reform and accountability. This violence cannot and should not be normalized."
