Mummers Parade Still On, Officials Monitoring Forecast
While officials closely watch the forecast, social media is buzzing with hot takes (pun intended) on the parade and predicted bitter cold.

PHILADELPHIA – With Philadelphia in the throes of a Code Blue cold weather emergency, the Mummers Parade could be put on pause due to the blast of arctic air that is expected to hit Philadelphia over New Year's weekend.
City officials said as of Friday, Dec. 29, the parade is still a go for Jan. 1, New Year's Day.
"We’re continually monitoring weather, but we’re still making preparations for parade to happen Monday," a city spokesperson said in an email to Patch sent Friday. "No changes since yesterday."

Parade officials told NBC10 that the final call on whether or not the parade will go on will be made Saturday.
Recently, USA Today readers voted the Mummers Parade the best holiday parade in the United States.
The parade begins at 15th and Market, right by City Hall, then heads south on Broad Street and ends at Washington Avenue.
There are performance stops at 15th and Market, Broad and Sansom, Broad and Pine, and Broad and Carpenter.
Meanwhile, social media is buzzing with hot takes (pun intended) on the potential postponement and even the Philadelphia Mummers String Band Association put out a Twitter poll on the parade.
