Mummers Parade Still On, Officials Monitoring Forecast

While officials closely watch the forecast, social media is buzzing with hot takes (pun intended) on the parade and predicted bitter cold.

PHILADELPHIA – With Philadelphia in the throes of a Code Blue cold weather emergency, the Mummers Parade could be put on pause due to the blast of arctic air that is expected to hit Philadelphia over New Year's weekend.

City officials said as of Friday, Dec. 29, the parade is still a go for Jan. 1, New Year's Day.

"We’re continually monitoring weather, but we’re still making preparations for parade to happen Monday," a city spokesperson said in an email to Patch sent Friday. "No changes since yesterday."
