Here are the top three stories today in Philadelphia:

  1. A Philadelphia police officer has been charged with perjury after lying about an arrest. Officer Daniel Levitt gave false statements about a firearm arrest he made in 2021. Levitt was arrested after Philadelphia conducted an internal audit for arrests of individuals for Violations of the Uniform Firearms Act. (Philadelphia Patch)
  2. In two weeks, the city of Philadelphia will start fining businesses that do not comply with the plastic bag ban. The ban was passed in 2019 and enacted in October of last year. After a monthslong grace period, the city will fine businesses starting on Apr. 1. (NBC 10 Philadelphia)
  3. Police have released a video of a suspect shooting and killing an 18-year-old driver stopped at a red light. The shooting occurred on Mar. 8 in the Oxford Circle neighborhood. Police released the video in hopes of gathering more information. (FOX 29 Philadelphia)
