Over 1 Million Philadelphians Are Fully Vaccinated, Officials Say

More than 80 percent of all Philadelphians are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, and more than 95 percent have at least one dose.

PHILADELPHIA — One day after announcing a new coronavirus response system, Philadelphia officials said more than 1 million residents are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

According to officials, 1,000,566 Philly residents are now fully vaccinated.

That represents 80.6 percent of Philadelphians.

Officials also said 1,211,798 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

53.6 percent of kids 5 to 11 years old in Philadelphia have received at least one vaccine dose. Among eligible Philadelphians 12 and older, 74.6 percent are fully vaccinated, and 90.4 percent have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

"Today we surpassed an incredible milestone with over one million Philadelphians fully vaccinated," Mayor Jim Kenney said. "I am grateful to our fully vaccinated residents for protecting themselves and others. We’ve reached this milestone because the vaccine is safe, free, effective, and widely available, and because of the hard work of our Health Department and healthcare partners over the last 13 months."

The Department of Health reports 291 patients with coronavirus are being treated in Philadelphia hospitals, with a total of 34 on ventilators.

In the last two weeks, 2.2 percent of tests in Philadelphia have come back positive.

Thus far during the pandemic, 272,827 Philadelphians have been diagnosed with the virus, and 4,723 have died from the virus.

Philadelphia is averaging 157 new cases of COVID-19 per day over the last two weeks.
