PA And Massachusetts Governors Place Delicious Super Bowl Wager

Both governors have laid some pretty good local eats on the line. Which one stands to win the most?

The week leading up to the Super Bowl has been chock full of mostly friendly wagers between Philadelphia and Boston area institutions, ranging from zoos to schools to YMCAs to donut shops. Now, the governors are each state are joining in on the wagering game.

In the case of a Patriots win on Sunday, Pennsylvania's Gov. Tom Wolf will send items from several iconic Pennsylvania eateries to Massachusetts. And if the Eagles win, Gov. Charlie Baker will send down some cherished foods from the land of the Patriots.

Both governors said they would donate the food to a local food pantry.

“I am proud of the work, determination and Pennsylvania grit that the Eagles have displayed and I look forward to rooting them on to victory in Minnesota," Gov. Wolf said in announcing the bet. "Thankfully, all Pennsylvanians can unite in one thing this weekend: rooting for a Patriots’ loss.”

If the Eagles win, Gov. Baker will send down:

  • Clam chowder from Legal Seafoods (Boston)
  • Craisins from Ocean Spray (Middleborough)
  • Apple cider donuts from Smolak Farms (North Andover)
  • Apple pie, chicken pot pie, and maple syrup from Hollis Hills Farms (Fitchburg)
  • Grillo's Pickles (Needham)
  • Cupcakes and lemon squares from Koffee Kup Bakery (Springfield)

“The full force of the Commonwealth and all of New England is behind (the Patriots) every step of the way because we know their jobs are not done yet,” Gov. Baker said in a statement. “We are proud to have another opportunity to offer up some of Massachusetts’ finest local products for a good cause."

Gov. Wolf will hand over the following in the case of a Pats victory:

  • Soup from Rooster Soup Co.
  • Scrapple from Reading Terminal
  • Coffee from La Colombe
  • Donuts from Federal Donuts
  • Pizza from Rosa's Fresh Pizza

The Eagles and the Pats face off at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
