Parking Authority Hosting Ticket-Avoiding Workshop

Let the people who give out parking tickets show you the best ways to avoid seeing those nasty little slips under your windshield wipers.

PHILADELPHIA – We've all experienced the dread of seeing a parking ticket on our vehicles in Philadelphia. Whether you get a ticket for an expired meter, parking in a loading only zone, or just were unable to decipher some of the confusing parking signs throughout the city, tickets are never fun.

But the folks who dish out those tickets are ready to offer the public tips on how to avoid them.

The Philadelphia Parking Authority will host a free,two-hour, fact-filled "Street Parking 101" workshop on Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to noon at the PPA headquarters, which are located at 701 Market St., Philadelphia.

The PPA said space is limited, to interested parties should email partnerwithppa@philapark.org to register and find out more information. Registration will close at 5 p.m. Friday, June 9.

  • Hear from your own Parking Enforcement Officers the tricks to avoid tickets and readily understand any parking sign you may come across;
  • Get one-on-one, hands on instruction from a certified driving instructor on how to parallel park like a pro;
  • Learn tips on parking and driving safety for two and four wheeled vehicles.

Attendees will get two hours of complimentary parking courtesy of the PPA at the newly renovated Parkade on 8th parking garage to enjoy the afternoon of June 17 with nearby shopping, dining, and historical attractions.
