Person Killed By SEPTA Train In Center City

The incident occurred at about 5 a.m. Thursday at the Race-Vine Station on the Broad Street line.

PHILADELPHIA — A person has died after being struck by a SEPTA subway train Thursday morning in Center City.

According to SEPTA, the incident occurred just before 5 a.m. on the southbound tracks at the Race-Vine Station.

Authorities said a person was struck by the train as it was coming into the station.

Emergency responders were called to the scene, but the person was pronounced dead a short time later, SEPTA said.

Southbound trains bypassed the station for about an hour after the incident.

Investigators are working to determine if this incident was an accident, such as a fall. However, they have determined no other individuals were involved, ruling out foul play, SEPTA said.
