Philadelphia Cop Chased Wife In Patrol Car, Caused Accident: Police
Antonio Mayhew, a 10-year veteran of the force, has been suspended for 30 days and will be dismissed when the suspension expires.
PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia Police officer was arrested Wednesday on a battery of charges stemming from a domestic abuse incident where he allegedly chased his wife while he was in his patrol car, which caused her to crash into another vehicle on May 2, police said.
Officer Antonio Mayhew, 30, has been charged with felony aggravated assault; terroristic threats; misapplication of entrusted property, and several other charges related to the May 2 incident, police said.
Mayhew, a 10-year veteran of the force, was arrested Wednesday after an investigation conducted by the department, police said.

According to police, Mayhew was on duty and in his patrol vehicle at about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, May 2 when he left his assignment area and became involved in an alleged domestic incident with his wife at the 5200 block of Market Street.
Police said Mayhew struck his wife in the head as she was in her vehicle.

She then drove off and Mayhew followed in his patrol car with sirens and lights active, which led his wife to crash into another vehicle at 61st and Walnut streets, police said.
The driver of the other vehicle was admitted to an area hospital and suffered critical injuries, police said.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross has suspended Antonio Mayhew for 30 days with the intent to dismiss at the end of the 30 days, police said.
Mayhew is one of several recent Philadelphia Police officers to face charges.
In late March, an officer was charged after allegedly abandoning a dog in Wissahickon Valley Park. The dog was emaciated and has since made a full recovery.
In late April, an officer was arrested and charged on child pornography charges.
Also in April, another officer was charged after allegedly striking and killing a pedestrian while driving recklessly while off duty.
