Philadelphia Cop Shot Wednesday Released From Hospital

Officer Paul Sulock was shot in the leg then chased down his shooter Wednesday. He is going home after spending a day in the hospital.

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Police officer who was shot in the leg while confronting an alleged armed man Wednesday is going home, police said.

Philadelphia Police Officer Paul Sulock was sent home from Temple University Hospital Thursday after being treated for a gunshot wound to his right thigh Wednesday.

Sulock, 31, was shot when he and his partner confronted two men – at least one armed with a handgun – who were seen crouching being vehicles at about 11:09 a.m. at G and Madison streets in the city's Kensington neighborhood.

Police said Sulock and his partner approached the armed man who turned and fired at them, hitting Sulock in his right thigh, police said.

Sulock, despite being shot in the leg, chased down and apprehend one of the suspects.

The second suspect was later taken into custody.

Police said Sulock and his partner's actions stopped a would-be shooting.

Sulock has been with the department since 2007 and is married with four children.
